as a reader

Looking back on myself as a reader i come up with more negatives that positives. I always struggled with reading. I could never sit down and just read a book for fun. I used to try and get excited about reading. I remember having my mom buy me sweet valley high books and the babysitters club books. I would start to read them, but it was hard for me to really get into them. I think this is because I had problems remembering what I read. I would read a chapter one day pick up the book the next day and forget what I read the night before. This was very frustrating for me as a child. My mom can sit and read a whole book in one night and she could not understand why I hated reading so much. No as I am getting older I have found books that I enjoy. Some of them might be trashy like the story of Anna Nicole, Tori Spelling and Amy Fisher, but at least I am reading. My mom always read to me as a child and I loved it and I understood what she was reading me, but doing it on my own gave me a problem. I found ways as I got older to help me understand what I am reading. When I am reading for school I have to take notes on what I am reading. This way I can go back and look at my notes and not have to reread chapters. When I read for fun I make sure I am in a quiet place where I can concentrate so I know what I am reading.
